Mid-day of January 20th, 2017 will mark the end of the journey of President Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States of America.
If he follows the lead of past presidents, this would be the most likely order:
- Bid farewell to the small army of White House staffers around 08:30am
- Coffee time for the Obama and Trump joined by the Vice-President Joe Biden, his successor Mike Pence and their spouses
- Leave a letter for the incoming President Trump in the Oval Office
- Michelle Obama and Melania Trump will join the outgoing and incoming presidents in a presidential limousine to drive to the Capitol.
In accordance with the 20th amendment of the US constitution, at midday local time, Obama will officially no longer be president and Trump will be sworn in by the supreme court chief justice, John Roberts Jr, at the West Front of the US Capitol.
